Virtual Care Info with School graphic

Hillsboro School District is partnering with Emplify Healthy by Gundersen to offer district students the opportunity to be seen virtually by a provider from the district nurse's office.

Families interested in having their children access virtual visits from the school can opt in to the program via consent forms from the health office. This partnership would allow school nurse Jackie Brown, an Emplify Health employee, to collaborate with in-clinic providers during telehealth, or "TytoCare", visits.

If a student within the opt-in program presents to the school nurse, the nurse would conduct her usual assessment. If it is determined that the student would benefit from a virtual visit, the school nurse would contact the parent/guardian, explain the situation, and offer the virtual visit. The parent is able to consent and participate in the visit if they wish, or decline the virtual visit.

An Emplify Health clinician will conduct the virtual visit with on-site collaboration with the district nurse and provide a prescription or other follow-up as needed. An after-visit summary can be forwarded to the parent. Parents are billed through insurance as they would be for any other virtual care visit.

The district is very excited to offer families the ease of telehealth options within our schools.
