Mrs. Holthe's Real Life Economics course is a requirement for all seniors and teaches soon-to-be graduates the fundamental realities of navigating the world of adult finances.
This week, seniors were split into small groups, or "families", given an income and a list of expenses, and told to create a budget that worked for their family.
The aim of this semester long course is to give students a thorough understanding of budgeting, banking, managing credit, investing, insurance, the importance of college and career planning, housing and real estate, taxes, retirement, and behavioral economics.
Hillsboro seniors will have the opportunity to run another in-depth financial simulation during the district's annual Reality Days this spring.
