COVID-19 Learning Model Update (#2)

September 23, 2021

Dear Hillsboro Families:

The Middle/High School will transition to a Red Learning Status on Friday, September 24.

The elementary school remains in a Yellow Learning Status at this time.

A full explanation of district learning statuses is available in our 2021-22 ReStart Plan, linked here.

To summarize, this move into a Red Learning Status at the MS/HS means:

  • No 6-12 students on campus starting Friday, September 24.  6-12 students will be learning asynchronously on Friday, September 24.
  • 6-12 students will be learning asynchronously on Friday, September 24, and transitioning to synchronous learning on Monday, September 27 – October 1.

This decision was made based on a sharp increase in student illnesses, COVID-19 prevalence in the MS/HS, and staffing.

The MS/HS will remain in a Red Learning Status through at least the end of next week, October 1.

All athletic and after-school activities at the MS/HS level will be postponed 9/23-10/2.

Homecoming week/activities will be rescheduled.

Our decision to change statuses remains contingent on building and local health data, and staffing capabilities.

We will keep families updated as we move forward.

We appreciate your continued support.

Sincerely,

Curt Bisarek

Superintendent
