Jason Winchel

For Jason Winchel, teaching at Hillsboro School District feels like coming full circle as an educator. "I started teaching in 2016. First at Weston School District for three years. Then I taught at the Wonewoc-Center School District for the last seven years. Returning to Hillsboro as a teacher felt like returning home, literally and figuratively."

Mr. Winchel graduated from Hillsboro and is raising his family here. His wife, Holly Winchel, has worked at the elementary school for several years, so when a position opened in our high school science department, Mr. Winchel was excited to apply.

"What keeps me excited about education are the possibilities. As a teacher and a coach, you have opportunities every single day to spark something in a student or athlete that changes the way they see and experience the world around them." Mr. Winchel says his goal for the next two years is to become as organized and efficient as possible in teaching Chemistry and Physics. Long term, he hopes to find an opportunity to coach in Hillsboro as well.

Outside of school, Mr. Winchel clears his head with biking and running. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
