Reality Days

Yesterday, the Hillsboro School District hosted Reality Days, an annual event organized for seniors. This year, the district was excited to extend this offering to seniors from Royall and Brookwood school districts.

During Reality Days, the Middle/High school gymnasium is transformed into a "marketplace" where students move across different stations covering housing, insurance, transportation, utilities, groceries, and more, while managing a checkbook and attempting to stay in the black.

Reality Days offers seniors firsthand experience on the importance of budgeting and exploring strategies for making their finances work.

A huge thank you to the dedicated individuals and community organizations who volunteered their time and expertise to run the booths and make this year's event a success: Dena Grinder (B&G Tax & Accounting), One Community Bank (formally Farmers State Bank), Royal Bank, Becky Hooks, Mary Jo Onsager, Lindsay O’Hair, representatives from Hillsboro City Hall, Ben Pooley from Hofmeister Insurance, Emplify Health, Kelli Mitchell, Chief Clark, Let’s Shine Coffee, County Market, and the many supportive Hillsboro staff and administration members who made the day possible.

Hillsboro High looks forward to ongoing community partnerships that empower area students with financial responsibility.
