Our Hillsboro High School Varsity Chess Team claimed the Conference Chess Tournament win at Royall High School on Wednesday, March 4. This victory marks the third consecutive year Hillsboro has won conference.
The team was led by first and second seeded players Calvin Marks and Dalton Nowak. Abner Scheder, Elizabeth Cairns, Ian Anderson, and Benjamin Blaha each went undefeated in their matches. Strong performances and key wins from Soren Rico, Hayden Bohn, Luke Holthe, and Jacob Cairns secured the team’s overall victory.
