Sonia Clarson

I grew up in south-western Wisconsin, graduating from high school in 1990. After high school, I attended UW-La Crosse, where I graduated with a major in Secondary Education/English and a minor in history. In 1993 I married Bruce Clarson from Richland Center. I began teaching at Hillsboro in the fall of 1996. I earned a master's degrees in education from UW-La Crosse in 2002. Currently, my husband and I live just outside of Richland Center with our two sons. I enjoy spending my free time reading and being with my family and friends.

Classroom Policies

1. Respect everyone in the classroom. Listen when I am speaking. Listen when a classmate is speaking. Do not speak out of turn.

2. Respect my property, the school's property, and each other's property.

3. Bring all the materials you will need to class. If you need to go to your locker or anywhere else during the class period you will need your agenda book, and you will be allowed three passes per quarter.

4. Be to class on time. If you need to use the restroom let me know, or you will be marked tardy.

5. Keep all language and written material school appropriate. If your language is inappropriate you will be removed from the classroom. If your writing is inappropriate it will be returned to you to fix, and it will receive a lowered grade.

6. Keep up with your homework.
A. If you have an excused absence it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed. As stated in the student hand book, if you are on a field trip or have a pre-excused you must have your work completed before leaving.

B. If you miss a day that there is a quiz or test, it will be in the library. It is your responsibility to make it up in the allotted time (1 day+ number of days absent).

C. If you are absent on a day that a paper or another long-term assignment was turned in, it will be turned in when you return to class ( If you miss the class period but you are in school before or after the class period you must turn in the assignment the day it is due or it will be considered late).

D. Late work will be accepted one (1) day late for half credit. Any work that is later than one (1) day will result in the failing grade ( 0 points).

7. Cheating will not be tolerated; it will result in a failing grade (0 points). This includes plagiarism of any kind. For any assignment, you may not copy from another person, the Internet, or any other sources. If you use a source in a paper you must document where it came from within the paper and in the bibliography.

8. All of the rules in the student handbook apply in this classroom.

9. Pop, candy, treats, and food of any kind are not allowed in this classroom. If it becomes a problem with clean up, gum will be added to the list. (As a general rule gum is okay as long as it stays in your mouth.)

10. All of the above rules apply when a substitute teacher is in charge. I will leave assignments for all the substitutes to give to you, and I will expect the assignments to be turned in finished when I return.
