Do you like to speak or act?  Are you interested in improving your communication skills?  If so, the forensics team is for you.  Members of the forensics team compete in oral interpretation or informative speaking.  With 16 different categories of speeches, readings, and performances for both individuals and groups, there is something for everyone.  We compete at three different levels:  sub-district in February, district in March, and state in April.  Forensics is a great way to have fun while becoming a more confident speaker or performer.  Mrs. Clarson and Mrs. Hora are the forensics team advisors.

Events

The Hillsboro High School forensics team wrapped up their season on Friday, April 17, with state competition at UW-Madison.  The season began in February at the sub-district level at DeSoto High School.  Twenty-three entries (thirty students) competed in a variety of speaking and acting categories, the largest team by far of the eight schools in our sub-district.  In an impressive showing, all twenty-three entries advanced to the district level, which was held at UW-La Crosse on Saturday, March 14.  There, Hillsboro qualified sixteen entries (twenty-three students) for state level competition.  At state, Hillsboro students turned out outstanding performances, including three gold medals (a perfect 25 out of 25 scores).  Congratulations to all team members on an excellent season.  The forensics team is coached by Sonia Clarson and Erin Hora.
